locust years

honey in a broken jar
summer breeze caught in a net
flowed blowed away
towards lunglo* stream.

treasured glowing golden dreams
sunlit days and starlit nights
rolled scrolled away
never will return.

but the silver strands in hand
pretty pattern yet may weave
hide the scars
of locust years.

*Lunglo is a stream on way to the world of the dead in Mizo myth. It was believed that once the dead people drink from this stream, they forgot their earlier life in the world of the living.

Maybe its because I'm listening to old, sad songs, but I became sooo melancholy reading this :)

Its sad that with time, our sunlit memories fade, our once-golden hopes and dreams die out, and all that's left is a memory of how things were. And when we die and cross the Lunglo streams we forget even the good times. *sob* Bleak view, heh. Beautiful lines :)

------The night has a thousand eyes,
And the day but one;
Yet the light of the bright world dies
With the dying of the sun.

The mind has a thousand eyes,
And the heart but one;
Yet the light of a whole life dies
When love is done.

Nice. Particularly like the image of honey in a broken jar. Rather predictable eh?

the entire poem cud stand on the line honey in a broken jar, i like it so much! also the locust years.. gives the snapshot of all tht may have been lost or destroyed in just two years. the idea of Lunglo stream is fascinating.

* two words..

@feddabonn,the predictability, i think, hinges on how bad the break is.

@Gauri, those two lines you appreciate just came into my head from somewhere. In a sense, we don't really 'create' anything but 'craft' them from given material--what do you say?

@Ruolngulworld, you must have been in the same mood while reading it then.

You elegantly decorate Hades all the time, I wish I should go soon where you paved its way!

Richly adorned always!

@Markwood, no no! That's far far away from my intention. We are invited to follow the opposite direction, a much more beautiful place.
